The Racehorse Re homing Centre is set in the village of Combe St. Nicholas, on the edge of the Blackdown hills in South Somerset, within easy reach of the M5, Taunton 12 miles, A303

1 mile. Surrounded by beautiful countryside, our small yard has a relaxing atmosphere, ideally suited to allow the horses the best possible start to their second phase of life.

We Rescue, Rehabilitate and Re home former ex-racehorses with the aim to giving them aworthwhile future

. The charity was set up in 1995 after 15 years of being run as a not for profit organisation.

The centre is totally self funded, relying on donations from well wishers and from small fund-raising events. Run by dedicated volunteers who give their time, expertise and love for these underestimated equine athletes.

Horses come into the Centre for varying reasons, from welfare cases having fallen onto hard times or direct from owners and trainers wishing the best future for their horse who for what ever reason can no longer continue in its racing career.

When the horses are ready to be re homed we do our upmost to match them with a suitable carer on a permanent loan basis. We do not Sell or Retrain for commercial purposes and all horses remain under the umbrella of the charity for the rest of its life.

We are honoured to have Mr. Stan Mellor MBE (the first jockey to reach 1000 winners) and his wife Elaine as our patrons, alongside Colonel Ian Stanford and his wife Jean, well known for theirSuffolk Punch horses as well as their involvement in Thoroughbred's and the racing industry.
